The short version
The Sellers Register is a community for sales professionals. Joining is free, and your record on it is yours.
Your record is visible only to you until you choose who else can see it. Every choice starts switched off, and you can change your mind at any time.
We never sell your data. No one can pay to see more of your record than you choose to show. And no one can buy a place in the Sellers Black Book, our peer-nominated tier.
If you're a consumer, you can usually cancel a paid booking within 14 days. Part C explains how.
Part A. About these terms
1. Who we are and how to contact us
The Sellers Register is run by Harrogate Capital Limited, a private limited company registered in England and Wales with company number 05971394. In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean that company.
Our registered office is 117 Tile Kiln Lane, Leverstock Green, Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, HP3 8NX.
You can contact us at info@sellersregister.com. Questions about your personal data go to privacy@sellersregister.com.
If we're registered for VAT, our VAT number appears on our website and on every invoice.
If we write to you, we'll use the email address in your account.
2. What these terms cover
These terms apply when you use sellersregister.com and the services we offer through it. That includes the Sellers Register, The Register Academy, our events and the credit scheme.
Some services have extra terms: the community rules, and the details shown on a booking page or an order form. If they conflict with these terms, the more specific terms apply to that service.
Our privacy notice explains how we use your personal data. Nothing in these terms gives anyone permission to see or use your personal data. That permission comes only from the separate choices in clause 6.
Please read these terms before you join or buy anything. We'll ask you to confirm that you accept them. You can download a copy at any time from our website.
3. Your legal rights
If you are a consumer, the law protects you when a service isn't as described, or isn't provided with reasonable care and skill. Nothing in these terms affects those rights.
You are a consumer if you use our services wholly or mainly for purposes outside your trade, business, craft or profession.
Some clauses apply only to business customers. These clauses say so.
4. Who can join
You must be 18 or over to join.
Membership is for individuals who work in sales, lead sellers, or are training for a sales career. Each person may hold one membership, in their own name.
A business customer is an organisation that buys from us for its business, such as an employer booking training for a team. Buying from us doesn't make it a member, and it can't see members' records.
We plan to offer services for organisations later, such as employers, recruiters, headhunters and funders. Each will have its own terms, which we'll publish before it starts. No organisation will see your record unless you say yes to that service and to that organisation.
You must give us accurate details and keep them up to date.
You are responsible for keeping your login details safe. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has used your account.
Part B. Membership
5. Free membership
Joining the Sellers Register is free. Our website describes what free membership includes.
We may change what free membership includes. If a change removes something important, we'll tell you at least 30 days before it takes effect.
We don't promise that free membership, or any part of it, will always be available, uninterrupted or free of errors.
If we launch services for recruiters, headhunters or funders, we'll never charge you to be seen by them. Saying yes will never depend on buying training or anything else.
6. Your record, and who sees it
Your record is the profile you build on the Register. It can include your role, your career stage, your wins and milestones, and the help you give others.
You decide what goes on your record. You can change or remove anything you've added at any time.
We share your record only when you've chosen to let someone see it. You make a separate choice for each service in the table below.
Each choice is off until you switch it on. We won't pre-tick a box, and we won't bundle one choice with another. You can join without switching any of them on.
Before you choose, we'll tell you who will see your record, which parts they'll see, and what they may do with it.
| Service | Who sees your record if you say yes | What they may do |
|---|---|---|
| Member directory | Other members, within the visibility setting you pick | View your record and message you through the Register |
| Partner network activities | The partner network named for that activity | Use the details we name, only for that activity |
| News and offers from us | Us only | Email you about the Register, the Academy and events |
Your record is visible only to you until you choose a setting for the member directory.
You can change any choice in your account at any time. Withdrawing is as easy as saying yes.
When you withdraw, we stop sharing your record for that service straight away.
We keep a record of each choice you make, when you made it, and what we told you at the time.
We never sell or rent your personal data. No one can pay to see more of your record than you've chosen to show.
If we launch a new service, including any service for organisations, we'll add it to this table and to our privacy notice first. It will have its own choice, which is off until you switch it on.
The choices we offer may change over time. Whatever changes, who sees your record always stays in your control.
You can download your record at any time from your account.
7. What you post
Your record is yours, and so is everything you post. That includes your profile and the wins, milestones and posts you add. We don't claim to own any of it.
You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, copy and display what you post. We use it only to run the Register, and only within the settings you choose.
The licence ends when you delete the content or close your account. Copies may remain in our backups for up to 12 months, and in replies other members have already made.
You must have the right to post what you post. Don't add anyone else's personal data, confidential information or work without their permission.
We won't use your name, photo or story in our marketing unless you've said yes to that use.
8. Entry numbers
Each member receives an Entry No. It records the order in which members joined. Founding members, who join before launch, hold the lowest numbers.
Your Entry No. belongs to your membership. It can't be sold, transferred or bought, and it has no cash value.
9. The Sellers Black Book
The Sellers Black Book is our peer-nominated tier. Places in it are earned on merit.
No one can buy a place in the Black Book. That includes members, sponsors, recruiters, employers, vendors, partners and any other organisation. No one can pay to influence a nomination.
Credits, referrals, gifts and payments never count towards a nomination or a place.
We'll publish the criteria, and how nominations work, before the first nominations.
People, not computers, decide nominations. No member has a right to a nomination or a place.
A place is renewed each year, as long as the member stays actively engaged and continues to meet the criteria.
Only members can be nominated for, or hold, a place in the Black Book. No organisation can nominate anyone, hold a place, or sponsor the Black Book.
A Black Book place shows on your record, so it follows the visibility choices you've made in clause 6.
10. Community rules
The Register works because members trust each other. You agree to follow the community rules, which we publish on our website.
In particular, you must not:
- (a) harass, threaten or discriminate against anyone;
- (b) post anything unlawful, defamatory or misleading;
- (c) pitch or advertise to members who haven't asked;
- (d) copy, scrape or export other members' records or contact details, by hand or by automated means;
- (e) use other members' contact details for anything except dealing with them through the Register, for the reason they were shared;
- (f) use the Register to recruit;
- (g) promote an investment to members, or invite members to invest;
- (h) create fake accounts, or invite people to join just to earn credits;
- (i) offer or accept anything in return for a nomination;
- (j) pretend to be someone else, or misrepresent your role or your employer;
- (k) try to get round a member's privacy choices, our security, or the platform.
Keep private discussions private. What's said in a closed group or a confidential session stays there, unless the person who said it agrees.
You can report a post, a message or a member using the report link beside it, or by emailing info@sellersregister.com. We'll review each report and tell you what we've done.
We remove illegal content as soon as we become aware of it. We may also suspend the account that posted it. Our community rules explain how we keep members safe from illegal content, including any automated tools we use.
11. Suspending or closing an account
You can close your account at any time in your account settings, or by emailing info@sellersregister.com. We may ask for proof of identity before we close an account or delete data.
When you close your account, we stop showing your record. Our privacy notice explains what we keep and for how long.
We may suspend or close an account if its holder seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms or the community rules.
Before we do, we'll tell you what we think you did and give you a chance to respond. We'll give you our decision and reasons in writing.
We may suspend an account straight away where we need to protect members, stop fraud or misuse of credits, or comply with the law. We'll then follow clause 11.4 as soon as we can.
You can ask for a decision to be reviewed by someone who wasn't involved in it.
If we close your account because you broke these terms, we'll refund any paid service you haven't yet received. We may deduct our reasonable costs caused by the breach. Unused credits will be cancelled.
Part C. Paid services
12. What we sell
Our paid services include courses in The Register Academy, events, and any other paid service we offer.
Each booking page or order form describes the service, its price, its dates or access period, and any further terms. That description forms part of your contract.
Prices for consumers include VAT where it applies. Prices for business customers are shown with and without VAT.
Your contract for a paid service starts when we email to confirm your booking.
13. Paying
You pay the full price in advance, when you book. We don't provide a paid service until we've received payment.
You can pay with money, with credits, or with both, where the booking page says so.
Payments are taken by an authorised payment service provider. We don't see or store your full card details.
We may agree in writing that a business customer can pay by invoice. Payment is then due as the invoice says.
14. Cancelling and refunds
If you are a consumer, you have 14 days to cancel a booking without giving a reason. The 14 days start on the day we confirm your booking.
For a self-paced online course, we'll give you access straight away only if you ask. You must also confirm that you'll lose the right to cancel once access begins. We'll confirm both by email.
For a live or tutor-led course, we won't start within the 14 days unless you ask us to. If you ask and then cancel, you pay for what we provided up to then.
If we've fully provided a service at your request, and you confirmed you'd lose the right to cancel once we had, you can't cancel.
Clause 16 sets out how cancellation works for events.
To cancel, email us at info@sellersregister.com, or use the model cancellation form in Schedule 1.
We'll refund you within 14 days of the day you tell us. If you paid with credits, we'll return them to your account.
After the 14 days, you can't cancel for a refund, except as these terms allow. You can still use your rights under clause 3.
15. Services that renew
This clause applies only if we offer a paid service that renews automatically.
Before you sign up, we'll tell you the price, how often you'll pay, and how to cancel.
We'll email you before each renewal. You can stop renewal at any time, online, in the same way you signed up.
If you are a consumer, you have 14 days after each renewal to cancel it. We'll refund what you paid for the period not yet used.
16. Events
If you are a consumer, you can cancel an event booking within 14 days of booking for a full refund. The event must not yet have taken place.
After that, event bookings are non-refundable if you cancel. You can pass your place to another person, as long as you tell us their name at least 5 days before the event.
We may change the speakers, timings or running order for good reasons, such as illness or travel disruption. These changes don't give a right to a refund.
We may move an event to another venue nearby, or online, if we have to. We'll tell you as soon as we can.
We may cancel or postpone an event, or make a change that significantly affects what you booked. If we do, you can choose a full refund or a place at the new date.
We may film or photograph events. Each booking page will say so, and how you can ask not to appear.
We aren't responsible for your travel, accommodation or other costs, even if we cancel or postpone an event. This doesn't affect clause 21.3.
17. Changes to a paid service
We may change a course, or how we deliver it, for these reasons:
- (a) to reflect changes in the law or in professional practice;
- (b) to update or correct content;
- (c) because a tutor or venue is no longer available;
- (d) to make technical changes to the platform.
A change for these reasons won't reduce what you booked in any significant way. If it would, we'll tell you first. If you are a consumer, you may then end the contract and get a refund for the part you haven't received.
Part D. Credits and invitations
18. Credits
Members can earn credits by introducing new members. They can also gift credits to other members.
An introduction earns credits once the new member has confirmed their email, completed their record and stayed a member for 30 days.
Your account shows how many credits each introduction earns, and any limits on earning or gifting. We'll give you at least 30 days' notice before we reduce them.
Credits can be used only to pay, in full or in part, for training in The Register Academy.
Credits expire 12 months after you earn or receive them. Your account shows the expiry date of each credit.
Credits are not money. They have no cash value, and you can't exchange them for cash, sell them, or use them outside the Register.
Credits buy training, never status. They never count towards a Black Book nomination or place.
Business customers can't earn, receive or gift credits.
We may cancel credits earned or gifted through fraud, fake accounts, self-referral or any breach of clause 10. We'll tell you why, and you can ask for a review under clause 11.6.
If we cancel a course you paid for with credits, or you cancel it in time, we'll return the credits. Returned credits keep their original expiry date, or 30 days from return if that's later.
If you close your account, your unused credits end.
If we close the credit scheme, we'll give you at least 90 days' notice to use your credits.
We never give credits, or anything else, in return for a review, a rating or a testimonial.
19. Invitations
Each member has a personal invitation link. If someone joins through your link, we record that.
Whether and how you share your link is up to you. Don't send it in bulk, or to people who wouldn't expect to hear from you.
We don't ask for the contact details of the people you invite, and we don't message them for you.
Inviting someone to join is separate from nominating a member for the Black Book. An invitation never counts as a nomination.
Part E. Our responsibility to you
20. What we promise, and what we don't
We'll provide our services with reasonable care and skill, and as described on the booking page.
The Register is a place to learn, connect and be recognised. We can't promise any result from using it. That includes a job, a deal, income, a promotion, a nomination or a place in the Black Book.
Members' posts, records and opinions are their own. We don't check them, and we don't endorse them.
We are not a party to anything you agree with another member, or with anyone you meet through the Register. We aren't responsible for their offers, decisions or conduct.
Nothing on the Register is an offer of work, investment advice or an invitation to invest.
Content in the Academy and on the Register is for general learning. It is not legal, financial, tax or careers advice for your situation.
Links to other websites are for information only. We aren't responsible for those websites.
21. Our liability
We are responsible for foreseeable loss you suffer because we break these terms or fail to use reasonable care and skill. Loss is foreseeable if it was obvious it would happen, or we both knew it might when the contract was made.
We are not responsible for loss that isn't foreseeable.
We don't exclude or limit liability where the law doesn't allow us to. That includes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, and for fraud.
For a paid service, our total liability to you is limited to the price you paid for that service. This doesn't affect clause 21.3, or your right to recover the price paid.
For free membership, our total liability to you is limited to US$100. This doesn't affect clause 21.3.
22. Events outside our control
We aren't responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control. Examples are a failure of a supplier's systems, a cyber attack, industrial action, extreme weather or a public health order.
If this happens, we'll tell you as soon as we can and try to keep the disruption short.
If the delay lasts more than 7 days, you may cancel the affected paid service. We'll refund you for the part you haven't received.
23. Closing the Register or part of it
We may stop offering the Register, the Academy, the credit scheme or any other part of our services.
We'll give you at least 30 days' notice by email, unless something outside our control prevents it. Clause 18.12 sets a longer notice period for the credit scheme.
Before the closure takes effect, you'll be able to download your record.
We'll refund the price of any paid service you haven't received in full, in proportion to the part not received.
That refund is our only liability to you for the closure. This doesn't affect clause 21.3, or any right you have as a consumer that the law doesn't let us exclude.
24. Business customers
This clause applies only to business customers. It applies instead of clauses 21.1, 21.2, 21.4 and 21.5.
We have no liability for loss of profits, sales, business, contracts, revenue or goodwill, or for any indirect or consequential loss.
Our total liability under a contract with you is limited to the fees paid under it in the 12 months before the claim arose.
Clause 21.3 still applies.
These terms, the booking confirmation and any order form are the whole agreement between us. You haven't relied on anything not written in them. Nothing in this clause limits liability for fraudulent misrepresentation.
Part F. General
25. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms for these reasons:
- (a) to reflect changes in the law;
- (b) to reflect changes to our services, including the launch of a new service;
- (c) to make them clearer;
- (d) to deal with misuse of the Register or the credit scheme.
We'll date every version. We'll email you at least 30 days before a change that affects you takes effect. The exception is a change the law requires sooner. We'll tell you what has changed.
If you don't accept a change, you may close your account. If you've paid for a service you haven't yet received, you may cancel it before the change takes effect. We'll refund the part not received.
Changes don't affect a paid service already booked unless the law requires it, or you agree.
A change to these terms never switches on a choice in clause 6. A new choice always starts switched off.
26. If the Register changes hands
We hold member data in trust. We may transfer our rights and duties under these terms to another organisation, for example if the Register is restructured or sold.
We'll tell you at least 90 days before a transfer, and it won't reduce your rights under these terms. You may close your account and have your data deleted before the transfer takes effect.
Your personal data will move only to a new owner bound by our privacy notice and these terms.
You may not transfer your account, Entry No., bookings or credits to anyone else, except as clauses 16.2 and 18.1 allow.
27. Complaints
If something goes wrong, email us at info@sellersregister.com, or write to us at 117 Tile Kiln Lane, Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, HP3 8NX. Complaints about your personal data can go to privacy@sellersregister.com.
We'll acknowledge your complaint within 5 working days and aim to resolve it within 90 days.
We don't currently use an alternative dispute resolution scheme.
28. Law and courts
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
If you are a consumer, you can bring proceedings in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your home courts.
If you are a business customer, the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
29. Other terms
If a court finds part of these terms unlawful, the rest still applies.
If we don't enforce a right straight away, we can still enforce it later.
These terms are between you and us. No one else can enforce them.
Schedule 1. Model cancellation form
Complete and return this form only if you wish to cancel a contract within your 14-day cancellation period. See clause 14.
